At the Faculty of Economics, the foundation of the Center for career planning and development is in progress, which commenced its activity in its first academic year 2007/08 by sending the first trainees in companies from the eastern part of Macedonia.

The centers for career planning and development are in the service of the students which seek for jobs and training programs and the employers which seek out future qualified professional.

These centers offer highly qualified services connected to the professional orientation and the development of the students. These centers work with students that who wish to ascertain their interests, possibilities and potentials with a purpose to define the most adequate fields in the development of the career. The realization of these programs is done by using various techniques like group work, individual analysis, tests, demonstrate interviews, etc. The student centers offer practical information in relation to the their careers such as strategies of seeking jobs, preparing documents for applying to training programs, jobs, interviews etc. For this purpose various trainings and seminars are organized, with attendance of visiting lecturers and employers.

The main goal of the Center is the career planning and development to be realized in partnership with the students, the university leadership and the employers with a purpose to accomplish the mission of the center for planning and career development to answer the needs of the business sector with highly qualified professional from the economy field.

Among the services that the center offers for the planning and development of the careers are: training for the strategies for seeking jobs and training programs, training and help with writing CVs, motivation letter and other required documents when applying for a job or training program, information and training for the job interviews and the employers expectations during the interview, training for the communication skills, help provided for the choice of undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

The centers for career planning and development should have own personal resource library with both printed and electronic materials, where students could find materials i.e. literature related to the development of their careers. This Center should also own computer equipments which would be at student’s disposal  in preparing documents/trial documents to apply for jobs and training programs, access to internet resources of the appropriate domain, access to literature and materials in electronic form, etc.

The center for career planning and development maintains relations between the faculty and the business sector and would help in organizing and implementing the programs of the training program. The employers that would use the center for job vacancies for the training periods and in that way they would make sure that the information would be received by their desired target group.

The center would be the place where the employers would be able to look through some students’ autobiographies,  get information about students with appropriate study programs, to realize job or training interviews etc. The advantages of the work of the centers for career planning and development are: 1) an opportunity for effective choice of the future successful professional, 2) decreasing the expenses for choosing and training the personnel, 3) an opportunity to integrate in the modern business practice and knowledge of the university programs, and 4) an effective mediator between the business sector and the Faculty.
